Membership Information What is Lambda Phi Theta? For those within the bond, it is quite a rhetorical question. Lambda Phi Theta is a group of men who come together to promote the same ideals and beliefs. Each member seeks out other men who share those same sentiments. In a very real sense, the Fraternity creates a family relationship among its members. We help to challenge each other in the areas of brotherhood, dedication, personal strengths, leadership, and diversity of yourself and the community. Lambda Phi Theta, a non-collegiate service/social fraternity geared to Gay and Bisexual "Men of Color," is a non-profit and non-collegiate Greek lettered organization. When applying for membership, remember that it is a very solemn commitment. That same commitment is a life-long dedication to the ideals and purposes of Lambda Phi Theta. This organization only considers for membership only those men who's personal, social, and leadership qualities are acceptable. Lambda Phi Theta is more than a mere fraternity, it is a concept...a way of life. We would like you to realize and recognize two things that make a man a Lambda Man. All aspirants should posses Maturity and Dedication. Being mature is not just about getting older. Its about being responsible, making concise decisions, being real about yourself, developing skills, and being a man of action, character, and worth. Being dedicated can be put very simple. Taking everything about being mature and putting it into action. These two concepts have had roots in Lambda Phi Theta even before it became that. When Lambda was founded, there where a number of fraternities already in existence. The Founding Elders Robinson, Benjamin, King, and Padmore chose to go in a bold and new direction and this was not very easy. It took a very special type of man to stand for what we believed in. These men with everything known to them, made the name of Lambda known to all. As of today Lambda is growing and we seek to grow further. We, Lambda Phi Theta, are looking for men that have that same strength. We are not looking for men that think by joining Lambda, that you are doing us a favor. We are not looking for a bunch of members and chapters. We are looking for quality moreover quantity. A man that believes that in that intangible element called brotherhood. We caution however, that membership in Lambda is not easy and it's not for everyone. We take our organization very seriously. If you've ever built anything, you understand that it is hard, tiring work. Organizationally, we are called to stand fast for what we believe in the face of all opposition. We are only interested in men who have the strength of character and conviction to stand with us. Though other Fraternities may offer you similar things, we guarantee that no other organization is as comprehensive as that offered in Lambda Phi Theta. Becoming a new member begins a journey, and thus Lambda Phi Theta offers you "The Great Passage." The Fraternal World's most powerful experience begins with Lambda Phi Theta, and lasts for a lifetime.
